Mana Ako – Confident levels.

Mana ako has inspired me on many things and opportunities to continue working, it has made me realise how important learning is and how fast it can make you feel confident. When I first ever joined Mana ako I thought it was just a working club to manage how to stabilise your work, but as days kept going I realised how much it affected me in my learning and how confident I am able to project my work .

Thank you Mrs/Mr Tuala and the Tele’a family for letting me join this group and learn so many things!

Example 22 x 4 = 88
1 24 x 3 = 20 x 3 = 60, 4 x 3 = 12, 60 + 12 = 72
2 25 x 5 = 20 x 5 = 100, 5 x 5 = 25, 100 + 25 =  125
3 21 x 4 = 20 x 4 = 80, 1 x 4 = 4 , 80 + 4  = 84 84
4 22 x 3 = 20 x 3 = 60, 2 x 3 = 6 , 60 + 6 = 66 66
5 23 x 4 = 20 x 4 = 80, 3 x 4 = 10, 80 + 10 = 90 90
6 19 x 4 = 10 x 4 = 40, 9 x 4 = 36, 40 x 36 = 76 76
7 17 x 5 = 10 x 5 = 50, 7 x 5 = 35, 50 + 35 = 85 85
8 27 x 4 = 20 x 4 = 80, 7 x 4 = 28, 80 + 28 = 108 108
9 28 x 3 = 20 x 3 = 60, 8 x 3 = 24, 60 + 24 = 84 84
10 21 x 5 = 20 x 5 = 100, 1 x 5 = 5, 100 + 5 = 105  105

Answer the word problems below.

Write the multiplication equation and show your working.

Example:  Paper Depot is sending out 8 trucks to deliver paper to customers today.  Each truck is being loaded with 29 cases of paper. How many cases will be delivered today?

29 x 8 = 20 x 8 + 9 x 8 = 160 + 72 = 232 (using place value)

                          30 x 8 – 1 x 8 = 240 – 8 = 232 (using tidy numbers)

  1. The candy hearts container has 46 candy hearts in it. I have 8 containers,
how many candy hearts do I have?

    46 x 8 = 00

    40 x 8 = 320, 6 x 8 = 48 , 320 + 48  = 368

  1.  I can type 49 words per minute. How many words would I type in 8 minutes?

    49 x 8 = 00

    40 x 8 = 320, 9 x 8 = 81, 320 + 81 = 401 Words

  1. I’m going to the circus in 9 days. How many hours before I go to the circus?

216, Each day is 24 hours a day and adding another 24 that is 48, if we were to do 24 Nine times the original answer would be 216.

24 x 9 = 180 , 4 x 9 = 36, 180 + 36 = 216

  1. The airplane sits 8 people across and it has 32 rows. How many people can fly on this airplane at once?

    8 x 32 = 256

    8 x 30 = 240 , 8 x 2 = 16, 240 + 16 = 256

  1. I play 30 minutes of hockey 4 days per week. How many minutes of hockey do I play each week?

120

30 x 4 = 120, 0 x 4  = 0, 120 + 0 =120 .

Question Working Answer
24 x 5 20 x 5 + 4 x 5 = 120
1 34 x 3 = 30 x 3  + 4 x 3 =  102
2 43 x 4 = 40 x 3 + 3 x 4 =  172
3 22 x 4 = 20 x 4 + 2 x 4 =  88
4 34 x 5 = 30 x 5 + 4 x 5 = 170
5 56 x 4 = 50 x 4 + 6 x 4 =  224
6 46 x 5 = 40 x 5 +  6 x 5 = 230
7 28 x 4 = 20 x 4 + 8 x 4 = 112
8 34 x 4 = 30 x 4 + 4 x 4 = 136
9 53 x 4 = 50 x 4 + 4 x 4 = 212
10 39 x 5 = 30 x 5 + 9 x 5 = 195

For this task, we were given a multiple status of Questions relating to a certain object/Person, The way I solved these Equations was using My Teachers Technique.

Polygons – Shapes!

For this task, We were learning about Polygon’s! what Polygon’s really mean is a shape that have multiple amounts of sides that are still equal and are made out of straight lines!.

This is One of the many Shapes I made with this app! ——> https://nrich.maths.org/dottyGrid/#/

It has 8 equal sides, 8 vertices (Corners), and is at a angel of 90!

Recount on Blake VR Experience!

Today Team 5 got to experience being underwater with a VR Set, or in other words, an Oculus.
It was a fun activity to start our week off, We got to go through 2 types of environments including A Bad Environment and a Good Environment, it was crazy to see the many sea creatures Like Snappers, Northern Gannets (Bird), Sharks, Stingrays, and so much more!.

Thank you Blake NZ-VR for giving us this amazing opportunity in Team 5!
